[ARCHIVED] Double-Bonus for Shopping Cedar City

The $1 Million Deal

Local shoppers are finding great deals at Cedar City retail outlets, motels and restaurants.

Shopping local also keeps a portion of sales tax revenues here to provide services from recreation, police and fire protection to other city and county amenities.

It has been estimated that local families shop once a month outside the county, spending an average of $200 ($25 gas, $25 food, $150 retail spending).

The lost sales tax revenue per trip would be $12.20 per household for a total of $92,061.20 per month.

To put it in perspective, the estimated support through sales tax revenue we give to other counties is about $1.1 Million a year.
