Boards and Committees are a vital part of the government in Cedar City. Various boards and committees meet regularly, assisting with making Cedar City a better place to work, play, and live.

The Cedar City Disability Awareness Action Team (CDAAT) is a committee, appointed by the Mayor, to bring awareness to City Council in regards to the needs of our residents with disabilities in the area.
CDAAT is a proactive team, reaching out to different groups, serving people with disabilities in our city, and inviting members of the community to participate and give input, helping our city to be more inclusive, as we serve people with disabilities.
We welcome any input and assistance in identifying the needs of the community in regards to services and support for people with different disabilities and limitations.

The Board meets every 3rd Thursday at 1 PM every other month at the Visitors Center.
- Institutes and revises all policies and procedures for the day to day operation of the Cedar City Library
- Supervises, cares for, and control the Library rooms and building.
- Makes recommendations and gives advice to the Cedar City Council on matters affecting the Library.

The Board meets on the 3rd Tuesday at 6 PM in the Special Collections Room at the Library.
- Provide recommendations to the Council related to naming of, hours of operation, fees to be charged, and types of operations allowed in new and/or existing public parks and grounds facilities.
- Provide a forum to evaluate public complaints and provide the City Council with recommended resolutions.
- Evaluate park, trail, and general recreation facilities and make prioritized recommendations to the City Council as to types of improvements in the parks and areas for expansion
- Consistent with the City's General Land Use Plan and Parks Master Plan, provide the City Council with recommendations as to future locations for parks and trail expansion.
- Provide the City Council with recommendations for leisure activities and programming that would benefit the public.
- Survey city residents in order to provide recommendations as to future priorities for trail and recreational facilities and programming.
- Provide recommendations as to the design of future city public parks and grounds
- Establish reasonably necessary advisory sub-committees, including but not limited to the following: Cross Hollows Events Center Advisory Sub-Committee, Veteran's Park Steering Committee, Trails Committee, Golf Course Advisory Committee, and Shade Tree Sub-Committee. These subcommittees shall at a minimum make quarterly reports to the Parks, Leisure and Recreation Advisory Committee. The sub-committees may make more frequent reports if necessary.
- Provide recommendations for both long range and short range planning related to parks, recreation facilities, trails, and public grounds.
- Make recommendations to the Parks Department and Leisure Services Department for annual RAP tax funding requests.
- Coordinate efforts with and receive regular updates from the City's events coordinator on matters related to the City's public parks and grounds.

The Board meets every 2nd Wednesday at Noon in the Council Chambers.
The Planning Commission also makes recommendations to the City Council for:
- Changes in the Zone Map, or the text of the Zoning Ordinance.
- Reviews proposed subdivisions, or subdivision changes.
- Reviews the widening, removal, extension, relocation, narrowing, vacation, abandonment, naming, change of use, acquisition of land for, or sale or release of any City Street, other public way, City easement or City property.
- Reviews proposed sale of City lands and makes recommendations to the City Council.

Historic Preservation Commission
Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Historic Downtown Economic Committee is to provide input and advice to the Cedar City Council on the following:
- Survey and Inventory Community Historic Resources. The historic preservation commission shall conduct or cause to be conducted a survey of the historic, architectural, archaeological resources within the community. The survey shall be compatible with the Utah Inventory of Historic and Archaeological Sites. Survey and Inventory documents shall be maintained and open to the public. The survey will be updated at least every ten years.
- Review Proposed Nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. The historic preservation commission shall review and comment to the State Historic Preservation Officer on all proposed National Register nominations for properties within the boundaries of the community. When the historic preservation commission considers a National Register nomination which is normally evaluated by professionals in a specific discipline and that discipline is not represented on the commission, the commission will seek expertise in this area before rendering its decision.
- Provide advice and information.
- The historic preservation commission shall act in an advisory role to other officials and departments of local government regarding the identification and protection of local historic and archaeological resources.
- The historic preservation commission shall work toward the continuing education of citizens regarding historic preservation and communities’ history.
- Enforcement of State Historic Preservation Laws. The commission shall support the enforcement of all state laws relating to historic preservation. These include, but are not limited to: UCA §9-8-501 the “Historical Preservation Act”; UCA §9-8-301-308 regarding the protection of Utah antiquities; and UCA §9-8-307 regarding notification of the State Historic Preservation Office of any known proposed action which will destroy or effect a site, building, or object owned by the State of Utah and included on or eligible for the State or National Registers.

Historic Downtown Economic Committee
Purpose Statement
The purpose of the Historic Downtown Economic Committee is to provide input and advice to the Cedar City Council on the following:
1. Propose innovative and efficient ways to effectively invest in the Historic Downtown district.
2. Propose economically viable policies that are conducive to the economic health and preservation of Historic Downtown.
The Historic Downtown area currently includes the entire block of Main Street from 200 South to the Iron County Tourism Building and 100 East to 300 West.

The Committee meets 1st Thursday of each month at 5:30 PM in the Council Chambers at 10 North Main Street, Cedar City, Utah.
Cedar City Active Transportation Committee (ATC)
The purpose of the ATC is to create an Active Transportation Plan (ATP) for Cedar City. The ATC will also advise City Council, Staff, Community Organizations, and Partners on the implementation of the ATP; represent the community and constituent interests in transportation planning decisions, and provide feedback to staff on projects relating to active transportation. The ATC was formed in October of 2019.
