There are approximately 27,000 people living in Cedar City and
43,000 residents of Iron County plus an additional 7,000 students
attending Southern Utah University. Cedar City is the 9th
fastest growing "Micropolitan Area" in the U.S., with a 25%
increase in population since 2000. The population
is well dispersed, with a median age of 24.2 and 8,486 children
enrolled in grades K-12.

According to the 2000 Census, there are approximately 13,618
housing units and the number is quickly rising as the population
increases. The average cost
of a new three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Cedar City currently
runs around $221,000. Rent for two-bedroom apartments range from
$500 to $750 monthly. Government-subsidized housing can be rented
for $300- $500 per month. Several local real estate magazines are
available that list a good supply of housing. There are also several
large townhouses, planned unit developments and affordable housing
projects in our area. Starter homes are available in the low $120,000's
